Case Study 1: When Shoulder Pain Became a Message About What She Was Carrying
A participant arrived at a Founder Session with shoulder pain that had been moving across her upper body. By the next session, she returned with a wonderfully simple update: her shoulders were fine.
What was happening
The discomfort began on the left side and moved across both shoulders “like a coat hanger.” The sensations included a sharp quality and the feeling of holding on tightly. Rather than treating those details as random, we used them as clues.
What I noticed
In Body Translation™, I listen closely to location, direction, timing, and the exact words a person uses. Together, those details pointed toward a relationship pattern involving emotional weight, holding on, and tension that had not yet found a safe place to move.
This was not a guess based on one body part. It was a pattern built from the full set of clues and tested against the participant’s lived experience.
What we worked with
We explored the relational context behind the tension and identified a more direct way for her to acknowledge what she was carrying. The goal was not to force a positive thought. It was to make the pattern visible so she could respond to it consciously.
What changed
At the next Founder Session, I asked how her shoulders were doing. She answered, “My shoulders are fine,” and then brought a new issue to explore. That follow-up matters: she was not simply describing an insight in the moment. She was reporting how her body felt after the earlier work.
Why this case matters
The story shows the heart of both The Flow Method® and Body Translation™: symptoms are approached as information. When we learn to recognize the pattern connecting physical sensation, language, timing, and life experience, the next step can become surprisingly clear.
In their words
“My shoulders are fine.”
A note about results
This is one person’s experience, not a promise of results. Body Translation™ is designed to work alongside—not replace—appropriate medical care.
Curious about your own pattern
Come to a Founder Session and watch the pattern-recognition process happen live. You may be surprised by how much meaning is hiding in the words you already use to describe what hurts. [Founder Session link]
